In order to enrich our learning and deepen our knowledge and understanding of World War Two, we are excited to let you know that we will be taking the children to the Evacuee Experience at Kent Life, which will take place on Tuesday 4th February 2025.
We are very fortunate this year that the PTA are contributing £10.00 per child towards this trip, therefore we will only be asking for a parental contribution of £7.20, to be paid on-line via the Gateway by Monday 27th January please. We are very grateful to the PTA for this contribution.
It is via The Gateway payment comments section that we ask you to provide consent, emergency contact details and any medical conditions for your child.
The trip will be a cross-curricular, stimulating and inspiring experience, which will not only allow children to make connections to their learning over the term, but also ignite a passion for history, fuelling their own imaginations! It is a hands-on experience at Kent Life, jam-packed with interactive workshops and demonstrations! If possible, we would like the children to come dressed as 1940s evacuees (their costumes will also be used for our in-school WWII day, where we will be inviting parents to share in the learning - details for that day to follow).Though, as a lot of the activities are outside or in cold barns, the children will need to wear comfortable shoes and bring a waterproof /warm coat (plus a hat/gloves if it is particularly cold). As we will be there all day, your child will need a water bottle, snack and a packed lunch. If you are entitled to free school meals we will provide a pack lunch for them.
In order for the trip to take place, we do need 2 parent helpers to join us for the day. If you would like to volunteer, please let the office know as soon as possible, office@eastborough.viat.org.uk
