History
Intent:
At Valley Invicta Primary School at East Borough, our History curriculum delivers a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will enable pupils to know more and remember more about historic events and the life of people who lived in the past, locally, nationally and internationally.
The History curriculum at East Borough covers all aspects of the National Curriculum. It is planned with clear end points in mind and learning is sequenced to ensure that pupils achieve the composite goals.
We teach children a sense of chronology, and through this they develop a sense of identity and learn to value their own and other people’s cultures in modern multicultural Britain. By considering how people lived in the past, pupils are better able to make their own life choices today.
The History curriculum will inspire curiosity and a love for learning so that pupils can master and further deepen their knowledge through investigating past events and, by so doing, to develop the skills of enquiry, analysis, interpretation and problem-solving.
