Year 5 Young Adventurers
We are delighted to inform you about our fabulous initiative as part of our Trust wide Personal Development Programme. We have devised a bespoke programme for pupils in Year 5 to provide them with the opportunity to participate in a range of challenges and to learn new skills.
You may be aware of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, which is open to secondary school age pupils. This programme helps young people to build character and resilience. The Young Adventurers programme is a great forerunner to this and will support your child as part of the transition into secondary school.
Young Adventurers will take place between Term 4 and the end of the academic year, concluding with a camp out at VIPS East Borough.
Children who participate will each receive a log book. This log book will evidence tasks they are able to complete outside of school such as community work, their physical goals and learning a new skill. Further details on this will be sent in due course.
The camp out and activity day will take place on Friday 27th June, the children will meet at VIPS at East Borough at 10am to set up their tents and must be collected on Saturday 28th June at 9am.
They will participate in a day of activities and visit Mote Park. The children will walk to and from Mote Park and will take part in water sports activities.
Following their activities at Mote Park the children will return to VIPS East Borough where they will participate in evening activities and a camp-out in tents.
Please complete the form below no later than Wednesday 22nd January, indicating if your child would like to participate:-

The cost for this event is £35 per child and includes all of the activities, an evening meal and breakfast. To secure your child’s place a £10 deposit must be paid via School Gateway no later than Monday 10th February 2025. The remaining balance will be due no later than Tuesday 6th May 2025.
This is a non – curricular event so it is not compulsory to be involved.
All children who participate will be expected to attend the full event, this includes sleeping at East Borough on Friday 27th June.
We hold information meetings regarding Young Adventures on the 23rd January. We will run two sessions at 9am or 6pm – you only need to attend one of these sessions. We will run assemblies for the Year 5 children to explain what they need to do.
